I have long been an admirer of Chloe’s work, having first discovered her as part of the bedazzling duo, and boutique clothing brand Bebaroque. Chloe Patience and her then business partner Mhairi McNicoll specialised in heavily embellished and glamorous garments that were sought after by such celebrities as Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Florence Welch. Having coveted these glorious garments for many years, I was delighted that Chloe accepted my invitation to come and teach her signature sequinned style when I set up the craft school at home back in 2022.
Chloe’s embroidered embellishments workshops were a big hit from the outset, combining sustainable sequins, bold beading, and colourful stitching to create 3D adornments that function as well as unique works of textile art as they do as upgrades for your wardrobe. Her calm and structured delivery keeps her students coming back from more. Embellishments will always remain a firm favourite in our programme, but Chloe is always keen to expand on the range of classes on offer, so we’ve added specialised techniques such as 3D stump work and, my personal favourite, Goldwork, to the schedule to meet the demands of returning students looking to add ever more exciting techniques to their repertoire.
Chloe’s background is in textiles and print, and her unwavering enthusiasm for surface embellishment reflects these two strands of her practice. Her work is driven by a passion for pushing the boundaries of functional fashion and textile design through print, embellishment, and couture-level craftsmanship.
