TRAVEL TRADE
Nestled in the heart of rural Scotland, the Central Scotland School of Craft offers discerning travellers an opportunity to experience Scotland through exceptional craftsmanship, meaningful cultural connection, and immersive creativity. Based in the historic cathedral town of Dunblane, moments from Stirling and within easy reach of both Edinburgh and Glasgow, our beautifully appointed studio provides a refined and inspiring setting for hands-on creative experiences rooted in heritage, sustainability, and contemporary Scottish craft.
Designed for luxury travellers, cultural explorers, and eco-conscious visitors seeking experiences with depth and authenticity, our workshops invite guests to step away from fast-paced tourism and engage directly with Scotland’s rich tradition of making. Led by highly skilled artisans and makers, experiences range from bookbinding, printmaking, and textiles, seasonal crafts, and heritage techniques, each carefully curated to offer a memorable sense of place and personal connection.
Sustainability sits at the core of our practice. We champion traditional hand skills, low-impact making, and the preservation of heritage crafts for future generations. Wherever possible, we prioritise natural, reclaimed, locally sourced, and responsibly produced materials, creating experiences that align naturally with the values of regenerative and eco-conscious tourism.
What sets the Central Scotland School of Craft apart is the rare combination of luxury hospitality, genuine creative expertise, and a deep commitment to cultural preservation. Our experiences are intimate, beautifully delivered, and highly adaptable, equally suited to private groups, bespoke itineraries, incentive travel, and visitors seeking a uniquely Scottish cultural encounter. Guests leave not only with a handcrafted object, but with a lasting connection to Scotland’s creative heritage, landscape, and spirit of craftsmanship.
OUR WORKSHOPS:
Cyanotype Print Workshop
For Up to 10 People
Join us for a fascinating exploration of the beautiful world of cyanotype printmaking, an accessible, darkroom-free photographic process that creates striking blue and white prints using daylight, water, and everyday objects. Throughout the workshop you’ll learn how to mix cyanotype chemicals, coat your own papers, and expose prints using both natural daylight and UV light. Experiment with a wide range of image-making techniques including botanical photograms using flowers and foliage, photographic negatives, drawing and mark making on acetate, and layering found materials to create unique compositions.
Travel Journal Workshop
For Up to 10 People
Join us for a Japanese Stab Bookbinding workshop where you can bind all of your gathered treasures together into a hand stitched travel journal. In this relaxed and accessible introduction to bookbinding, you’ll use decorative stitches and found papers to create a beautiful handmade book.
Combine your postcards, maps, fliers, travel tickets and more with blank pages to create a memorable hands-on keepsake – ideal for collecting memories of your travels through Scotland, and adding sketches and notes as you go. Suitable for complete beginners.
Quilted Travel Pouches
For Up to 11 People
Transform beautifully curated fabric remnants into a practical, sustainable travel companion. Explore traditional hand-stitching and piecing techniques, creating a free-form fabric collage that is gradually shaped into a softly structured quilted pouch.
Working with our carefully selected materials, you’ll combine colour, texture and pattern in an intuitive, creative process that results in a one-of-a-kind piece. The finished pouch is perfect for keeping jewellery, cables, toiletries, medicines, or small creative projects safely organised while on the move.
