At the Scottish Craft School in the picturesque town of Dunblane, we take a different approach to gifting that puts creativity and sustainability at the heart of Christmas. Our winter programme is designed with meaningful gifting in mind, helping you create your own handmade gifts that go beyond tablet and jam, that are imbued with your personality, the touch of your own hand, and show that you have put time and thought into your gifts.

Recycled Crafting Materials

Throughout November and December our experts are on hand to teach you how to weave infinitely useful willow baskets and bind beautiful brushes by hand, carve wooden spoons to use or just admire, or felt fun festive fungi to decorate your home for the festive season and beyond. Commemorate your year together by binding snippets and clippings of your shared experiences into meaningful memory books, or print your own ethereal blue cyanotype cards and artful prints for framing.

Instead of tramping the high street or scrolling through the online giants, treat yourself to a mindful day of creativity amidst the festive chaos, and craft gifts that show how much you care.

Our specially curated selection of winter workshops all use easy to source materials, and projects you can replicate at home so you can make gifts for your whole family this festive season.

OR …

If crafting your own Christmas feels too ambitious, give the gift of a craft experience to that person who has everything instead. Our early 2027 programme offers the ultimate in ‘anti-stuff’ gifting, offering a little bit of much-needed me-time for the person who never stops, or a meaningful experience for you to share together.

For the colourful creative – a day of Gelli plate printing offers an experimental, productive immersion in layering, stencilling and photo-transfer mono-printing, resulting in a mass of vibrant prints to take home. For the flower fairy – Botanical Printmaking explores the remarkable alchemy of flora and foliage, using the natural pigments found in plants to print directly onto paper and create beautifully organic designs. For the ultimate January reset, there is also an infinitely useful refillable journal workshop, perfect for planning and recording your year ahead!

And if you didn’t quite get around to making that spoon before Christmas – give them the skills to make their own. Spoon carving traditionally kicks off the crafting year with huge success at the Scottish Craft School and 2027 is no exception, as it returns to launch another amazing year of creativity when our programme restarts in January.
