SUBSIDISED PLACES

By offering subsidised places on our  workshops we aim  to remove cost as a barrier to participation, enabling access for all to creative learning opportunities. We hope to encourage engagement locally and welcome participation from those who otherwise might not be able to participate. Subsidies are supported by ongoing fundraising activity including grants from private trusts and public funding bodies, and from community giving through our ‘Pay It Forward’ scheme.

CURRENT SUBSIDIES

We are able to offer limited  financial support on a small number of spaces on some of our upcoming courses, funded by generous donations from our Pay It Forward scheme.

Who can apply for a subsidy?

Subsidised places are intended for those who would not otherwise be able to afford to attend a course for whatever reason, for example:

  • people in receipt of universal credit
  • young people (over 16)
  • people in low income jobs, or between jobs
  • professional or non professional artists looking to upskill
  • this list is not exhaustive, please do get in touch to discuss your eligibility

Subsidies are normally offered at a percentage of the course cost, the remaining balance must be paid upon booking to secure your place on the course. In some circumstances we might be able to reduce the cost further, please email us if you require a bigger cost reduction in order to come to a workshop. There are no restrictions on geographic location, you are welcome to apply from outside of our locality.

How To Apply:

Please email us with answers to the questions below explaining why you qualify for a reduced cost workshop. Any information you provide will be held in strictest confidence.

  • Which of our courses would you like to attend? You can find a full list of available workshops on our website.
  • How would a subsidised place on a craft workshop remove financial barriers excluding you from a creative education or experience?
  • How would this opportunity advance your creative practise, or bring other benefits to your development or wellbeing?

Successful applicants will be sent a discount code that can be used to book your course online and should be applied on the checkout page. Due to limited funding we are unable to honour all requests, and priority will be given to those who can demonstrate the greatest need and most benefit to their creative practise.

"I was amazed by what I was able to create from such unpromising starting material. I couldn't believe how beautiful my finished spoon was, particularly having started with a flat piece of wood. Louise was so helpful and knowledgeable, and the location/facilities were brilliant. Do it, sign up, have fun, you won't regret it 🙂"

Katherine was a fantastic teacher, very clear in her instructions and very helpful with any questions. A great studio space, great people and a perfect way to spend a Saturday."

"I attended the 6 week crochet class and absolutely loved it. Firstly, what a great group of women. All ages and stages. Warm and friendly. Cynthia, our teacher, was amazing. I was in awe of her crochet skills, and patience. She laid out the instructions very simply and clearly. On week one when Cyn showed us the hat we would start with I thought “aye, right” but we did it over 2/3 weeks. By week 3 we had started on the next project, a bag. Amazing. Such patience and skill."

"To borrow from Forrest Gump's maw, Botanical Printing is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get. But it's certainly fun finding out. The surprise of seeing how your printing turns out was a real buzz.."
